Castle Sammezzano

The Sammezzano castle is in the eponymous village, in the province of Florence . Surrounded by a large park , the existence of the place goes back to Roman times . The main building , the most important example of an existing orientalist architecture in Italy , in Moorish style , was built in 1605 at the behest of the Ximenes d’Aragona family . Over the years it has undergone several changes of ownership and now lies in a state of neglect .
